Courses of study: Furniture Engineering and Furniture Making

Graduates will acquire a sound understanding of furniture making and wood-based constructions, new production components, production technologies, and design of furniture production systems. The programme also provides students with knowledge of waste management. In addition to technical education, graduates will be provided with an understanding of economic and managerial disciplines, including business economics, furniture industry management, production administration, occupational safety, quality control, production certification, testing of qualitative furniture features, export and furniture trade issues. Graduates will be aware of furniture technology innovations in the context of scientific advances. The aim of the programme is to prepare graduates for a wide range of management and business careers in furniture industry. By the end of the programme, students should be able to adopt a synthetic approach to technical and economic matters and to enhance the competitiveness of Czech furniture industry. The courses prepare students for a career in diverse areas such as management positions within furniture companies, furniture production planning, expert positions in state owned enterprises or retail chains.

The programme is taught in Czech, and it is also open to students from abroad who received a Czech government scholarship.
